Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: January 2026

Smart Fencing Calculator is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

What This Means

  • When you click certain links on this site and purchase a product, we may earn a small commission.
  • This costs you nothing extra.
  • We only recommend products we believe are genuinely useful for fencing projects.

Editorial Independence

Our reviews, recommendations, and calculator outputs are not influenced by affiliate relationships. We prioritize accuracy and usefulness for our readers.

Other Affiliate Programs

We may also participate in other affiliate networks (e.g., manufacturer direct programs, Home Depot, Lowe's) under similar terms.

How We Choose the Products We Link To

Every product link on this site starts with a job to be done. When we build a calculator, we ask what a homeowner actually needs in their hands to complete that step of the project — a post hole digger for the post depth calculator, bagged concrete mix for the post-setting calculator, a stain sprayer and drop cloths for the staining calculator. We then look for products that meet three tests:

  • Fit for the job. The tool has to be the right size and capacity for a typical residential fence project, not a commercial crew's equipment.
  • Widely stocked. We prefer products that are consistently available so a link still works months after we publish it.
  • Established track record. We favour products and brands that have been on the market long enough to have a real reputation among fence installers and DIYers.

We do not accept payment from manufacturers to be featured, and no brand has editorial input into our calculators, guides or comparison tables.

Where Product Details and Prices Come From

Product titles, images, prices and availability are supplied by Amazon through its official Creators API and refreshed about every 12 hours. Every price is shown with the date and time it was retrieved. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of the product. If our product data is more than 24 hours old, product cards are hidden until it is refreshed. Prices in our calculators are general cost estimates for planning a fence project, not Amazon product prices.

How Affiliate Links Are Marked

Product links carry the rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" attribute, which is the standard way of telling search engines a link is commercial. Sections containing product recommendations are labelled on the page, and this disclosure is linked from the footer of every page on the site.

Why We Use Affiliate Links at All

Every calculator on this site is free, has no signup wall and shows no interruptive advertising. Building and maintaining more than thirty calculators, keeping the regional cost data current and hosting the site all cost money. Affiliate commissions are what pay for that. If a reader buys a post hole digger through one of our links, we receive a small percentage from the retailer and the reader pays exactly the same price they would have paid going directly.

Your Choices

You are never required to use our links. You can search for any product we mention directly at the retailer, buy it locally, or ignore the recommendation entirely — the calculators work identically either way. If you would rather not have affiliate cookies set in your browser, see our Cookie Policy for details on how to manage or block them.

Accuracy and Liability

Product recommendations are general suggestions for typical residential fencing work. They are not professional advice for your specific project, soil, climate or local building code. Always read the manufacturer's instructions and follow local code. See ourDisclaimer for the full terms.
