If you build fences for a living, or you have built enough of your own to know where the published advice is wrong, there is a place for that here.
What gets published
One thing: writing that makes a decision easier for someone standing in a yard with a tape measure. That usually means a number, a method, or a mistake explained. A piece that teaches a reader how to check a contractor's quote is worth more here than a piece about why fences are nice.
- Regional specifics. Frost depth, soil, wind, what your local code inspector actually asks for. The site's guidance is general; yours does not have to be.
- Trade knowledge. The order you do things in, what fails first, what the supplier will not tell you.
- Corrections. If a calculator here returns a number you know is wrong, that is the most useful thing you can send. It gets fixed and credited.
- Material and method comparisons where you have used both.
What does not
- Anything written to place a link. Guest posts that exist to carry a backlink are declined, and the link is removed if one slips through.
- Invented statistics. If a figure appears, it needs a source or a derivation.
- Prices presented as fact. Ranges with a stated basis are fine; "a fence costs $3,400" is not.
- Rewritten versions of what already ranks. If the internet has said it, this site does not need to say it again.
- AI-generated filler. It reads exactly like what it is.
How it works
- Send a pitch — topic, what you have actually done, and a short outline. Not a finished draft.
- If it fits, you get a yes with a rough word count and any angles worth covering.
- You write it. It gets edited for house style, and you see the edit before it goes up.
- It publishes with your name and a line about who you are.
To be straightforward about it: this is a small independent site. A published piece gets you a byline and a credited link, and nothing else. If you need a paid commission, this is not that — and it is better to say so here than after you have written something.
Pitch
This form has no backend. Filling it in opens your email app with the pitch composed, so nothing is submitted or stored anywhere until you press send yourself.
